A Picture of Grace
The unconverted heart needs to be restrained for its core
is self-centered.
With conversion, we can be set free to be motivated by faith and love alone.
Grace changes us by its loving influence, not moral pressure.
God meets us where we are, and seeks to connect with us in our world.
He accepts us just as we are, forgives our failings, and loves us no matter
what we do.
He is understanding and compassionate toward our weaknesses, however He will
confront our inappropriate behavior.
He gives us the freedom, opportunity, and room we need to grow. It is our
job to step up to the plate and put forth effort to change.
He gives us freedom to be ourselves, while inspiring us to be all we can be.
He doesn't badger, guilt, or pressure; instead, He gives us encouragement,
security, understanding, love, and support, even when we fail miserably.
He listens empathically and communicates horizontally.
He has established a value system that simply mirrors reality. He leaves it
to us to incorporate that into our lives because we believe it's the best
thing we can do for ourselves.
If need be, God uses circumstances and consequences to confront our self-destructive
behavior.
